well...they tried

last weekend i went to the 'winter festival' in central park. this is the second year they've had the event, but somehow i picture last years as being a little better. they had a ramp set up where anyone could bring their board or skis and at the bottom was a small rail. it was pretty cool to see some of the people go down and do their little tricks, and was, by far, the most exciting part of the event. another area was blocked off where they made snow and the kids seemed to be having a blast. even though it was a small area, they made the snow pretty deep so mini snowmen were made and a bunch of them got together to try and make an igloo. please note the lack of snow in the rest of the park! at the other end of this place, there were sleigh rides and ski and snowshoe rentals. that had to be the most ridiculous part. the poor horses went around a circle that could probably fit in my apartment, and then there were the people trying to ski, with no sort of incline or decline whatsoever, and snowshoe in the middle of them. if nothing else, it was a good reason to get outside and away from my books for a little while. maybe next year will be better!

birthday (part deux)

well, birthday celebrations continued through last weekend with dinner and a superbowl party. keith took me to a great dinner at megu downtown. the food was so good and we ate a ton! we had 4-5 appetizers, 2 mains, sushi, and dessert. i also thought we should have sake since we were eating japanese and everything, but that turned out not to be the greatest idea. i've only had probably 2 types of sake i actually like and of course i have no idea what they were called and probably couldn't describe what the taste was. so, we ordered a tasting of sake where we got 3 different kinds; we switched to beer about half way through! everything was presented well and we even cooked our own beef on a hot stone they bring to the table. i'm a lucky girl, and yes, i know i'm spoiled. :)

the superbowl party was a lot of fun also. dave, meghan, and zac all came over for junk food and cheap beer sunday afternoon and watched the game. i brought frozen pizza, dave made chips and dip, and meghan made a cake...i wasn't feeling very creative! this weekend central park is having a winter festival and i'm pretty excited to check it out. they are making snow for us poor new yorkers that are still waiting around for winter. it's been really cold lately, just no snow. can't wait to go home in march and see some!!

another year...

...and none the wiser. okay, maybe a little wiser. thank you all so much for the phone calls, cards, and gifts. just wouldn't be the same without all of you. i look forward to all of our traditions and it just wouldn't be a birthday without them. today made me really miss all of my family and friends, but i'll see you all very soon!!
school is going very well, much more work than undergrad, but i'm really enjoying it. i'm so happy i transferred from nyu to the new school and into the psych program. the reading is a little intimidating, but i'm told it gets easier. i think people just get used to it! still looking for a job; i'm interested to see how work will factor into school, but i'm sure it will all work out.
thanks again for everything, hope see you all in march!
