weekend with mom!

last thursday, mom came to visit and we had a really good time. i can't believe how long it had been since i'd seen her. thursday started a little shaky with the blizzard in colorado, but thankfully, her flight was only about an hour late. i went and got her and brought her back to my apartment to get settled. after that we went to a local place for dinner and came home and went to bed. friday, we were up early and went to statue of liberty and ellis island in the morning. that was the first time i'd been to either, and it was really cool. it was the perfect day to go. no clouds, no wind, and it was warm enough to walk around outside. friday afternoon was pretty uneventful...we came back and took a nap and just stayed in for the rest of the night. :) the weather started getting pretty bad, so it worked out. saturday, i had to work, so i dropped mom off near the met and she just hung out there all day. sunday morning, we took it easy and went to brunch on the west side, then we walked back over through the park. the leaves haven't changed as much as i thought they would be, but it was still really pretty. we walked down madison and went into a couple stores while we made our way to rockefeller center. we went to the top of the rock, and it was amazing. it was another clear day, a little windy, but we could see forever up there. i like it more then the empire state building because on the north side, we could see the whole park and on the south side we could see the empire state building, chrysler building, all the way down to the statue of liberty. the weekend went way too quickly, but it was great to spend time with mom. can't wait to go home for christmas and see everyone else!!

school, work, work, school

that pretty much sums it all up! i'm starting to feel better about my classes and feel like i'm starting to remember how to do some of the procedures and concepts. my discrete math prof likes to pick on me for some reason. i don't do well answering questions under pressure...

other than that, noah came out for business last week and decided to make a long weekend out of it. we got to go to the yankee game on friday night and it was a great time. we sat 10 rows behind home plate, drank a couple beers, and had a philly cheese steak. saturday night we went downtown and randomly ran into a couple people that also went to du and now live here.

i'm starting to make more friends and get to know people better. it's nice not to feel quite so alone and know people around me. mom comes in 3 weeks!!
