weekend with dad!

last weekend dad came out to visit and we had a great time! friday night we get checked in to our hotel and walked around times square a little bit, then we headed uptown to have dinner at jesse's restaurant. we had a great time with jeff, katie, ben, and jesse and it was great food. on the way to pick dad up from the airport i was getting a sore throat and hadn't felt great for a few days before that. on the way back to the hotel, i started feeling worse and worse. long story short, i was horribly sick the entire weekend. it was really bad timing and i felt horrible because i was tired but still wanted to go out and do everything. and everything we did!
saturday morning we started a little late but, once we started, we didn't slow down, much. we headed over to the east side and went to the empire state building. thanks to the new york pass, we didn't have to wait in the main line for tickets and were taken to a separate entrance. we also got to go on the sky ride, which basically takes you on a bird's eye view of the city. after that we went to the top and got to see across the whole city. it's a really cool perspective to see all the way to the statue of liberty on one side and times square and uptown on the other. after that we had some food and i needed a nap. we went back to the hotel for a little while and rested. in the evening we went to a great french restaurant and then to "the 25th annual putnam county spelling bee" on broadway. it was a great play. it was really funny and entertaining.
sunday we were off and running. in the morning we walked to rockefeller center and then up 5th ave. to central park. we walked all over the park and i got to take dad to my favorite parts. we had been walking for about 2 hours and decided to take a cab back to the hotel! we got checked out and headed to the heliport for our helicopter tour! on our way, we checked out madison square gardens, penn station, and had a hot dog. the helicopter tour was amazing!! it took us right by the statue of liberty, over wall street and ground zero, downtown, up to harlem and columbia, to the bronx and yankee stadium, over central park, and down the hudson river. it was the perfect day to be up. no clouds or haze, we could see forever. it was really a great experience and i'm bummed i forgot my digital camera. we headed back to the parking garage to get the car, but the elevator was broken...so we walked around times square a little more, had a drink at hard rock, and thankfully the garage had fixed the problem when we got back. we headed uptown and had some great sushi with jeff, katie, and jesse followed by ice cream. after that, it was time to head back up north.
sunday night and monday were not good days for me health wise and i couldn't stay out of bed for more than 2 hours at a time. i felt bad because i kept having to abandon dad at his hotel! we got some lunch and then i came back to the house and slept for a few hours. monday night we had indian food and then i came back and went back to sleep. i was not very entertaining on monday!
tuesday was a lot of the same. i was starting to feel better but had no energy. i went and got dad and brought him to the house to show him where i live and the area i'm in. then we had a good lunch in hartsdale and i showed him around scarsdale a little bit. after that, it was time to take him to the airport...
it was such a great weekend, just wish i hadn't gotten so sick!! makes me miss you all so much, hope to see you soon!!! thanks for a great weekend, daddy.
