Ok, I admit

I made a quick and emotional decision. Making Ashlyn's blog private caused too many complications.

Need Advice

by Erica

I carved my first cake last week. It was for a four year-olds pirate themed birthday party. I made a sheet cake and divided it into three equal sections. I then layered the sections and put chocolate buttercream between each layer. In the middle section I cut out part of the layer and placed it on the back of the ship to create more height. Throughout the day the back section started to pull away from the cake.

I need some advice of how to layer cake without it tipping. I understand that there is a staking technique out there, but I am not sure how that all works.

The cake made it to the party without sinking. I am sure the four year-olds never noticed the flaw.

Mother's Day and Horses

by Erica

I had a great first Mother's Day. We went down to The Springs after church yesterday and spent the day with family. Carol and Phil bought Zack, the Clydesdale, a couple months ago. We got to see him and the other horses, dogs, cats, mule and donkey (Nana's house is very fun)!

The Last Three Weeks

by Erica

I have not posted in awhile. We have been keeping busy, but not a lot of what we have been doing seems blog-worthy. The weather has been getting nicer which means that we have been going outside more. Both Monday and Tuesday of this week I got together with some friends and their kids and went to the park. It felt great to lay beneath a very fragrant tree and enjoy watching the kids play.

I have been watching three month old Lauren three times a week. That has gone really well. She is very sweet and I love the cuddles that I get from her.

Our vacation to NYC and Cincinnati is nearing. I haven't really thought past the plane ride there. I am sure our tour guide, Leanne, will keep us busy:)

We have decided to go on a family missions trip to Juarez this August. God has really changed my heart in this matter. There are a lot of logistics to consider, however, we pray for God protection for Ashlyn and patience for us. We are putting on a silent auction in June. I need to pull together some items to be donated. Ideas anyone? This is the time that I wish I knew someone rich or famous or something. Maybe I can get Funovation to donate a laser maze:)

Well, I have about 10 bottles that needed washed out and then I need to think about dinner.
