Books on CD

by Erica

In almost every classroom, there is a listening center. I had the idea (with the help from a co-worker) to make my own books on CD. I thought this is a project that others might like to try at home.

Windows comes with the program Movie Maker (Start >Programs>Entertainment>Movie Maker). With the help of a microphone, you can record your own audio and make your own books on CD for your children.

Stick the book and the CD in a gallon sized ziplock bag and now you have your own listening center at home!

* Please note: Due to copyright laws, it is illegal to sell or give aways these CD's. Thought that I should put that in there.

My New Hobby Idea

by Erica

I have been inspired by the television show, Ace of Cakes to give cake decorating a try. My grandma Linafelter used to decorate cakes for all our family functions. I hope that I inherited some of her talents.

I have sought out the advice of some cake decorating friends, borrowed some books from the library and now I need to give it a try. I need a reason to make a cake. My reason might be practice. I'll post a picture (if it is not too much of a disaster) as soon as I give it a shot.

Congrats!

by Erica

Leanne, my sister-in-law, got engaged last week! She met her fiance, Keith, in New York where they both live. We have enjoyed getting to know him this past year. He is a perfect match for her.

Congratulations, Keith & Leanne! We are excited for you.

The Flagstaff House

by Erica

Thanks to the generosity of our friends, Steve and Pauline, Jason and I went on our first real date since Ashlyn was born.
We dined at The Flagstaff House which sits on the side of a mountain in Boulder. We sat in a quiet corner of the restaurant which looked out over the lights of Boulder. The food and the service were exquisite. We had a wonderful evening.

Weekend Getaway

by Erica

We took off last Thursday for a getaway to Breckenridge. Oh, it was beautiful. It snowed most of the day Friday and on and off on Saturday. We didn't do a whole lot. We tried out some new restaurants and viewed the snow sculptures from a recent contest.

It was peaceful and relaxing. I am ready to go back.
