Good Morning America

by Erica

Nine months ago Colorado experienced blizzard after blizzard that kept many people homebound for days. Hospitals are now seeing a rise in babies being delivered. Although we do not consider Ashlyn to be a blizzard baby (too much information?) we had our picture taken at the hospital for an article that was going to be put in the Boulder Daily Camera.

Well....

I received a call from the PR rep at our hospital and Good Morning America is going to be doing a story on the '07 Colorado Blizzard babies and wanted to know if they could use the picture of us! I am not sure when they are wanting to do the story, but I will be sure to edit this post as soon as I know.

More Pictures of Ashlyn?

by Erica

Ashlyn 02I could easily fill up our blog with pictures of Ashlyn. However, Jason has researched the best photo sites online and is very happy with flickr.com. We are in the process of uploading, naming, tagging, geotagging, grouping, organizing, etc. some pictures. If you are a friend or in our family, you can order prints directly from this site. If you would like to do more with the pictures besides just browsing or ordering pictures, I am sure that Jason would love to talk you through the other features of Flickr.

On Tuesday, Jason and I will be headed to the hospital to have our baby girl! I am being induced at 7:30 am. My fluid levels are getting a little low which is why they are wanting to induce me a week early. Please pray that all goes well.

We have appreicated all the love and excitment that so many of you have shared with us. We can't wait for you to meet our daughter.

Frozen Corndogs!

by Erica

I have recently started reading our local newspaper. The police blotter is one of my favorite sections as I find it a true form of entertainment. To think that men and women spend months if not years training to be police officers and this is what they have to deal with.

A 26 year old woman reported to local police a series of strange events at her home, which culminated in the woman finding corndogs on her car. Corndogs? Earlier in the evening, someone called the woman's phone and did not say anything, only breathed. Caller ID? Someone also rang her doorbell but was not there when she answered. And I love this last sentence.
The corndogs on the woman's car were frozen. Phew, so glad they told me that.

The State of Our House

by Erica

As of 7:30 this morning, this is what our living room looks like. As though we don't have enough going on with the basement, we are also recarpeting the bedrooms upstairs. In the past week we have made great progress on the house. We have painted, finished all the electrical work, put on doors, fixtures and now they are laying the carpet.

A Teacher Who Can't Spell

by Erica

I just looked at the title of my last post and realized that I misspelled the word 'remember'. Nice. You would think that I would catch these things being a teacher and all. However, again today I was reminded that I can't spell (and often make many editing mistakes in my writing). I created a project for all the kindergarten classes this week. It consisted of a block letter drawn on an oversized piece of paper. At the bottom of the paper was a word with the same beginning sound as the letter followed by a picture of that word. For example: If 'A' was drawn on the paper, the word 'apple' was written and then there was a picture of an apple. Still with me? Well, for the letter 'W' I wrote the word 'watermelon'. I realized for the first time today (after all copies were made and colored) that watermelon is spelled with one 'l' instead of two. Yes, it has taken me 27 years to learn how to spell 'watermelon'.

Sad, isn't it.

(This post does not entitle people to comment about every error they see in my posts. You need to love me for who I am).

Remember to Thank a Kindergarten Teacher

by Erica

I have taught 1st-3rd grades and though the first week of school is always a challenge, there is nothing like the first week of kindergarten. We welcomed 127 kindergartners into our school this week. The majority have never been in a school setting before. You have to teach them how to do everything...how to raise their hands, to sit in a chair, hold a pencil, etc. Then to add to the chaos, something like 20% of them are Spanish speaking only. I am only assisting the kindergarten teachers and I am exhausted at the end of the day.

So, if you know a kindergarten teacher thank them for what they do. In my opinion, they have one of the hardest jobs out there!
