Girl's Weekend!

by Erica

I am so excited! I just booked a flight to Chicago for a weekend reunion with my girlfriends! I can't tell you how much this means to me. I miss my friends so much. We'll have 3 full days of catch-up time, girl-talk, laughing, eating and shopping. It will have been almost a year since I have last seen them. Thankfully, we have not gone more than a year w/o getting together since we graduated from college.

Sadly, Rachel won't be able to join us (I guess living in Moracco is an okay enough excuse). You will be missed! We'll take pictures and leave a little spot to Photoshop you in:)

New Patio

by Erica

I was excited to get home from work yesterday to see our new concrete patio and sidewalk in place. Unfortunately, my excitement was a bit jolted when I saw the differerence in color between the two projects. They were supposed to be the same color. Obviously, one was tan and the other was grayish-blue. I called Jason at work, worried, informing him to come home right away to get this straightened out.

As it turned out, I came home in the middle of the process. They had put on a gray powder to bring out the definations in the stamp work. This powder will eventually be power-washed off.

Lesson learned: Ask plenty of qustions before assuming anything.

Unstable People

by Erica

Today there was a man standing near my classroom waiting for his kid. I kindly asked him, " Have you checked in at the main office?" He said yes, they know I am here. I replied with, "Well, I need you to go back to the office to get a vistors sticker. He mumbled many words under his breath while storming away from me obviously upset.

I am trying to keep our school safe. I am trying to keep my students safe. Yet, I wonder-what keeps a man like this from going after me. In light of the shooting today, you can't help but wonder what it is that will set someone off.

9 Weeks

by Erica

It really is too early to begin the countdown-I know. It will make the time go by slower. What is wrong with me? I really do enjoy teaching. I enjoy the people I work with and I am thankful that I have a job.

However, I have enjoyed not feeling exhausted at the end of the day. I enjoyed my free time and the extra time I got to spend with Jason. I enjoyed not having to be busy every minute, make that second, of the work day.

For these reasons I am not ready to go back to work tomorrow.
