Just Another Day

by Erica

I watched a guy get pulled over and searched outside my classroom today. That was interesting.

Hot-Button.........

by Erica

This post is written by a girl that I went to college with. It is an entry from her blog. You can visit her site by clicking here.

  • I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I could have had an abortion 10 weeks ago.
  • We heard his little heartbeat at 10 weeks. I felt him kick between 14 & 16 weeks. We saw him at 20 weeks via ultrasound-his heartbeat, his brain, his fingers (moving!), his belly, his boy parts, his little tiny toes. We saw him. And I could have legally killed him 4 weeks later.
    • Matt couldn't have killed him. If Matt would have done something to hurt me that caused me to miscarry, Matt would have been committing a crime.
    • I, on the other hand, could have chosen that I didn't want this child any more (no matter that Matt played an equal role in the conception of our son.), gone to a clinic, had the "tissue" scraped away, and according to this sickening website, it would have been, "...one of the most empowering thing[s] a woman can do."
    • That only means one thing. A life is a life if a woman chooses that it's a life. If she decides it's not a life she can kill it with no consequence (beyond the emotional consequences, of course). Don't let Daddy do it though; that makes him a horrible murderer.
    • The two do not compute!!!
  • Scott Peterson right a bell? Tried for killing two people. His wife and his unborn child. Hello?!? How can a life be a life in one case (this one) and not a life in another case (abortion.) Where is the logic?
  • Thank God for President Bush and his Partial Birth Abortion Ban of 2003. Those were created to happen even later than 24 weeks.

The Worst Day of the Year

by Erica

I believe that there is some truth to this article. Work today almost put me over the edge. Am I am going to make it to Spring Break?

My Husband

by Erica

My husband constantly amazes me.

I appreciate his depth of knowledge in so many areas.

I appreciate the way he is patience with me when I am being unreasonable.

I appreciate the way he provides for our family.

I admire the way he thinks of others first.

I appreciate the way he loves me.

I am thankful that he chose me!

Glitches

by Erica

Finding a school that offers a program that I am looking for is proving to be more difficult than first anticipated. I would like an ESL program that offers some online course work. I haven't found any. Also, most of the application deadlines for summer is February 1. This only gives me 17 days to find a school, research it, make a decision and turn my application in.

I am not sure what to do.

Masters?

by Erica

Disclaimer: I may be jumping way ahead of myself here. Right now I am just scratching the surface on this idea.

For the first time since I have graduated from college, I am actually thinking about going back to school. Before (meaning even a week ago) the thought of getting my masters sounded awful. Most teachers get their masters in literacy. I have found, through classes offered by our district, that this topic is rather boring to me. Thinking that this was my only option, I completly discounted the idea of going back to school.

As of today, a new idea popped into my brain. What about getting an ESL endorsement. I like the idea of working with small groups. Plus, there is a lot of job security when it comes to this area. I am not sure where to start, but I am going to doing a little research right now.

More Snow. Really?

by Erica

I had my first official snow day on Friday! It was very exciting to get a call from a fellow co-worker saying that school was cancelled. Remember all those days as a kid watching the tv and waiting for your school to flash across the screen in hopes you have a day off? Well, that same excitment still hasn't worn off. I stayed up to watch the news just to see our school on the screen.

They are forecasting for another foot this Thursday/Friday. We'll see. Knowing Colorado weather, it will be 70 and sunny.

Happy New Year!

by Erica

It is hard to recap all the activities of the past week without writting a small book. So, to spare you from a long post, here is a bulleted version of our past week.
  • Due to the first blizzard, Jason and I spent Saturday finishing up with our Christmas shopping. I began in October-you would think that we would have been done in time. After a long day at the mall, we came home to celebrate our Christmas and bake a lot of biscotti's for family gifts.
  • We then spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrating at Carol, Ken's, Grannie and Ted's, Grandpa Thurston and Grandma Reva's houses.

  • On Tuesday morning we flew out to Cincinnati to celebrate Christmas with my family. While we were there we got together with some of my college friends, went to this internet famous light show, and were entertained by mom and dad's new cat, Sadie.
  • We arrived home on Saturday night to even more snow that came while we were gone. We continued our New Year's tradition of a fondue meal with our friends, Steve and Pauline.
  • Today is a day of relaxing and catching up. Tomorrow I began work again after an 18 day break!!
