I would like to plant some flowers in a couple flower boxes for our porch. Does anyone have any recommendations on types of flowers or any other vital information for me? So far my knowledge on this subject is coming from the internet.

yum
by Erica
I love watermelon. It satisfies my craving for something sweet, yet it is good for me. Great combination.
30 minutes later.....
Too much watermelon is not a good thing. I think that I have had about 100 melon balls. My belly is full.

A Good Lesson For Me
by Erica
This past week has been eye opening and refreshing. Amazing statement considering that this past week I have gone back to work. By work I mean teaching summer school 8-12 M-T.
I have discoved the secret to truly enjoying teaching. Small class sizes. During the school year I become overwhelmed and over stressed because there are too many kids in one room. There is no possible way to figure out each kid and what they need on an individual level with that many students.
My class size for the summer is 8. I have time to correct their work, to figure out what is getting in their way of learning, to listen to their stories and most importantly- I have time to enjoy them as individuals.
Best of all, I don't have to deal with 10 distractions during a 10 minute lesson. There aren't enough kids to cause that many problems. What a great experience so far. Now, I need to find a school to teach at that has a 10:1 student/teacher ratio.

Layers and Layers of Rich Chocolate Cake and Fudge Frosting
by Erica
Yes, that is what I have been enjoying for the past 3 days. I told (or begged) Jason to give me a big slice of chocolate cake for my birthday. That is all. Just chocolate cake. Jason is a good man. He satisfied my craving and took me to the Cheesecake Factory for my cake and birthday dinner. Yes, I have turned another year older. I am well into my mid-twenties.
A sign that I am getting older... I asked for a sewing machine for my birthday. I now own a sewing machine and I am excited about it. I went to JoAnne Fabrics and became completely overwhelmed with the amount of fabrics. I realized that I don't know how to buy to right kind of fabric for what I want to do. So, instead I bought a book. Wish me luck or please come over to teach me how to sew.

Happy Birthday Amy
by Erica

Amy, it was great seeing you yesterday! I hope that you are able to put the packing aside and relax for the day (Amy is moving to the Philippines and 10 days). You will be greatly missed, but we'll see you at Copper in December. We need to go back to that great trail past the Enchanted Forest.

3rd Weekend of Travel
by Erica
Jason said it well when he said, "For not planning any trips this summer, we have certainly traveled a lot."
Last night I got back from our third weekend of travel in a row. I believe that we are done for the summer. Jason will come home later in the week (he is working).
Jason and I left Friday night for Fresno. On Saturday we went to Yosemite. It was amazing, beautiful and breath taking. There are many high cliffs and waterfalls.
Sunday we drove to Sequoia National Park. We took many pictures inside the giant Sequoia Trees. We also visited The Crystal Cave and Moro Rock.
My husband turned into a big time photographer this weekend. I think Jason took some 3oo pictures in two days. A co-worker lent him his Nikon D70. I think that camera will have to be our next major purchase. Pictures will follow as soon as Jason comes home from his business trip.
I have some projects in the works for this week. I will post about them next time.

Allison and Marc's Wedding
by Erica
On June 30th, yet another college girl friend entered into marital bliss. The wedding was beautiful. Allison looked radient and I can't wait to get to know her husband, Marc in the years to come. This time I listened to the wedding ceremony in a whole new light. The words spoken by the pastor seemed more meaningful and revelant.

Weddings mean that I get to see my friends again. Oh, I miss these girls. The time together was way too short.
