Memorial Day Weekend

by Erica

Jason and I had a great Memorial Day Weekend. We were able to relax and spend a lot of time together. We also went down to Collin and Amy's place for some mini-golf. Gosh, it has been a long time since I have done that. On Sunday we headed to The Springs to see Jason's family. Jason's grandparents moved here from Maine. They are so excited to be here and so are we!

It was hard to be back at work on Tuesday. I know-I only have a few more days left of school with a great vacation coming up, but boy-these days are tough! I was swung at yesterday. Teachers get such respect nowdays. Anyway, one week from today I will be finished with this school year.

House update: Our roof was put on today. Here is the latest picture.

1st Story Walls

by Erica

Here is the front of our house. On the far left is the living room, the middle window is where the dining room is and our garage is on the right.
Here is the back. The kitchen is on the left hand side. Our family room is in the middle and Jason's office is on the far right.
You can't tell in the picture, but there are 10 2x6's strapped together next to the door. Jason is impressed with the fine construction.

I would like a take a cooking class. I am not sure what ethnicity of class that I want to take though. Perhaps I will just watch countless hours of Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals.

I also want to learn how to make a quilt. I need to get a sewing machine first. Or, figure out how the sewing machine in our basement works. It was given to me by a co-worker. It was made in the 70's. It has personality.

Also with making a quilt, I want to make window coverings for all our windows in our new house. There are these short wooden curtain poles that they use in all the model homes. Does anyone know where to buy these?

Jason and I finalized interior plans of our new home today. Jason made most of the decisions for the home. He is quite the designer.

Ohio Thunderstorms

by Erica

There are a couple of things that I do miss about living in Ohio. The obvious one is my family and friends that still live there. However, today I was reminded of Ohio. Ohio has the best thunder storms. Now, I never cared for the sideways rain, but I enjoyed being in my room listening to the rain poor down and the thunder roaring. I was sitting in my classroom after school and a great storm occured.

House Update

by Erica

A lot of progress has been made this week. The concrete slab has been poured and the basement has been framed out.

Thankfully we had two showings this week. We were starting to get a little discouraged with the number of showing that we have had.

I'm So Bummed

by Erica

A piece of me is now no longer...my laptop broke today:( I can still use it, however, I have opened and shut it one too many times. The top of it is hanging by a hinge.

As absolutely pathetic as it sounds I am totally bummed. Part of it is because I take it to work everyday and it makes my life so much easier. The other part is Jason gave me this computer when we were dating. I had no money to buy a computer and one weekend when I went to visit Jason in Colorado he gave me his old laptop.

Anyway, I will have to transition to using our PC. I am thankful that there is still something for me to use.

2 1/2 Weeks Left

by Erica

I dont' think people quite understand the life of a teacher. People think that we have it made because we have our summers off. Granted, this is a huge benefit of being a teacher. I can't complain about the number of vacations days that we have a year, but we earn them! For example, one of my students punched a little girl in the stomach and said that he wants to kill her. He also went on a rampage of thowing various items at kids; chairs, markers, plants....Yes, I teach 1st grade.

There are certain times of the year when you can't wait for the year to end. Now is one of them. The kids are ready for summer. Their behaviors begin to elevate and they can't seem to ever stop talking. You know, I can't blame them. I want to be on summer vacation too.

What A Difference A Week Makes

by Erica

All of this actually took place last Friday. For some reason I couldn't upload the pictures.

Jason engraved our name into the cement. This is where the garage is going to be.

Tomorrow we are going to head to the design center to choose our options. They said to plan on being there for 4 hours!

Our Dirt

by Erica

In our dirt there is a big hole.

And in that big hole there are footings.

Our house is starting to be built!
