Weekends

by Erica

It is finally the weekend. These 5 day work weeks can get so long (ha ha). Work seemed to drag on today. I think it had something to do with the rainy weather. That is one thing about my job, I have very few days that go by so slow.

Lately, I have been reminiscing about our wedding and honeymoon. I have this strong desire to go back to Mexico. I keep asking Jason if we can go back to Tulum. He keeps reminding me that we just bought a house. Vacations may be on hold for awhile. Oh, happy memories.

A Child Called It

by Erica

I picked up a book on Saturday night that I haven't been able to put down. A Child Called It, is a book about the life of a child who was horrifically abused from age 4-12. It is recorded as the 3rd worst child abuse case in the state of California. Some parts are so grotesque that I could barely stand to read it.

I am now into his second book called The Lost Boy. It details his life from age 12-18. Thankfully he was taken out of his home and away from his demented mother.

There is one more book in this trilogy. These books are not easy to read because you cannot believe what one human being would do to another. However, it has made me see how blessed I am to have been raised in such a loving house. I can only pray that none of my students have to go through any of this. Sad thing is, I have already had to report a couple suspicions.

No Title

by Erica

Having the house for sale means that the house needs to be clean before we leave each morning. It is a hard thing to do during shedding season. I had to tell Cody and Ollie that they couldn't sleep in the house until Cody was done shedding. They looked sad to hear the news. I don't like them being outside all night by themselves. I am sure I will cave soon. Caving does mean more cleaning for me.

Jason and I are part of a small group bible study on Tuesday evenings. I feel so filled by the time that I come home that I am so thankful that we have made it a priority every week. We are studying 1 Corinthians right now. If you want to have a good discussion, read chapter 5. It is very interesting. If you want to get our perspective on what it says, just ask.

Does blogger have a spell check that actually works? I live by spell checker.

Jason's dad (Papa Heddings) came up for Easter dinner on Sunday. It was wonderful to see him again. The weather was just perfect for an afternoon walk.

We got the cutest chocolate egg in the mail from Jason's mom. Thanks so much, Carol. I need to take a picture of it before I eat it. Notice that I said 'I' and not 'we'. It will be gone before Jason can get to it.

The trees are budding and the grass is turning green with some help from the sprinklers. I like seeing the earth turn green again. It is so refreshing. It also means that summer is near which is my favorite season.

Many thoughts go through my head wondering if I can teach at my school another year. Every day is a challenge. Situations I deal with are sad and stressful. I have to believe that I was place there for a reason. With that said, I will be looping my class next year which means that I will be keeping my same students that I have this year and will teach them again in 2nd grade. Somehow I have to learn how to reach the one student in the class who I can't seem to reach. Last week he called me a mean b**ch. It is hard to love a kid that is so angry and so lost. It breaks my heart to think that life is already this hard for him. He is only 7.

*Leaving work at work is impossible. I think about these kids all the time.

Our poor dogs, I wish they were inside.

It's Official

by Erica

Our house is on the market. As I was driving through our neighborhood, I am wondering how in the world our house will stand out among the other hundreds that are also on the market. There are many other questions running through my mind concerning the house, but I need to let go of them all. I guess time will tell.
