Big News!

by Erica

After months of searching in various communities, Jason and I found our dream home only blocks from where we live now. We signed the contract yesterday. Depending on the weather, we should be in our new home by the end of July/early August.

We were able to removed the 'lot 10 available' sticker and replace it with a 'sold' sticker. Then we went up the the lot where our home will be built. Stayed tuned to see the house in various stages throughout the next few months!

The Dentist

by Erica

I have a dentist appointment today. I am going to take Jason's earphones and ipod and try not to think about what they are doing to me.

Why would anyone what to be a dentist?

Back Home

by Erica

After a long weekend in Minnesota, I am back home. I had a great time in MN visiting Amy and Emily. Amy and I did a lot of relaxing and shopping. We found the coolest store at the Mall of America called Peanut Butter Loco and all they sell is peanut butter. They have pb banana, pb chocolate raspberry, pb white chocolate, they even had a pb sun-dried tomato (I didn't try that one). Who else could get away with selling a $7 jar of peanut butter?

One weird thing we did was go through our old house that I grew up in. Amy gets her hair cut but the lady that bought it from my parents. They had updated it a bit, but unfortunately they had not removed the teal carpet we put in 10 years ago.

Well, I am off to enjoy more of my spring break.

PS. I just got out the power washer and washed the porch and my car. Scary huh.

Spring Break

by Erica

My spring break officially begins tomorrow at 4:00. I am pretty excited. So are my students. They couldn't stop talking all day today! It is time for a break.

I am pretty excited to get to spend a few days with Amy in Minnesota. This will be my first time leaving Jason since we have been married. I wonder if he'll cry for hours like I did when he went to Dubai. Ha!

I am off to my second night of riding my bike. It will take a few weeks to really get in shape.

It is time.....

by Erica

It is time that I start excercising on a regular basis. I tried the gym membership, but that didn't last long. I really do not enjoy running, so that wasn't much of an option either. This bike seems like it will work out well. My plan is to start at 30 min. every other day. Jason set up a TV downstairs so that I have something to watch. I'll let you know how I am doing. I am optimistic at this point. Scott and Dawn-thanks for the good suggestion.

Technology Is Amazing

by Erica

Funny statement coming from a person who is married to a computer engineer. I am learning about a virtual home schooling program (COVA) through a program called Elluminate Live!. I am listening to a moderator and viewing her slideshow online. All of this is live. People can 'raise their hands' and ask her questions during her presentation. This is so cool.....oh, I am a nerd.

Has anyone else noticed that it isn't getting dark so early? I just realized it tonight when I was getting home at 5:30 and it was still light out!

Migraine Aura

by Erica

Allow me to describe what happened to me yesterday at work:
-Blind spots were appearing while I was talking to a co-worker.
-My face started to turn numb
-I had diffeculty finding the right words to say. Example: I couldn't remember the name of my hospital, the street on lived on, or my father-in-law's name.
-My right had went numb

These symptoms, called aura's, usually occur 30 minutes before the onset of a migraine.....and they did. I thought I was having a stroke or had a tumor rupturing. I was thankful I just had a migraine.

Lockdown

by Erica

Today my day begin by driving past 4 police cars on the way to work. They were all within about a block of each other. As I came into school I was informed that we were in a lockdown and we were not to leave the building. There was a homicide in the area and there were looking for the killer. Great.

Note: All the kids are safe and the lockdown only lasted about 2 hours.

Sanity Day

by Erica

I am sitting on the couch, enjoying what I am calling my sanity day. We have had such a busy month that I needed to have a day to slow down. The sun is shing bright outside. I feel like I am back on summer break.

We had a great time this weekend when Dave and Lauren, our first house guests, came to visit. Poor Dave got stuck at the airport for far too long. A day later, he finally arrived at our house.

Saturday we met up with Collin and Amy at Copper. It was such a busy day. The lines were longer than I have ever seen them before. The weather was beautiful which explained why everyone wanted to be skiing.

The time with Amy made me realize how much I miss my girls from CU. Being around any one of them makes me feel so comfortable and myself. Close girl friends are hard to find and certainly can't be replaced. I think a reunion is in store.
