Date Night

by Erica

Saturday night Jason and I went on a date night. It was nice to get out and do something out of the ordinary. First we went to downtown Denver to The Chop House. The Chop House is an excellent restaurant with a 1940's feel to it. After eating more than we should have, we drove up to Longmont to watch the musical Guys and Dolls. Jason's co-worker, Erik, plays the electric bass and was a member in the orchestra pit. I was quite impressed that a four member orchestra could create such a full sound.

I admire anyone who can get on a stage and act. I think that acting is the number one activity that puts me out of my comfort zone. I am not sure why this is. I was in plenty of church plays when I was little. The irony is that I roleplay and act silly in front of my students all the time. I guess the difference is they think I am cool.

You feel about acting the way I feel about drawing or anything having to do with art.

Who was the awful art teacher we had in Junior High? I can't remember his name.

Oh well - your date night sounded like so much fun!

I can remember each art teacher I had since elementary school. They were all mean.

that is so sad. art is something kids are supposed to like. why would an art teacher be mean???

i bet that many people who become art teachers really wanted to be 'artists'...and couldn't make it financially just creating art. so they figured...i might as well go torture poor little children to make some money....thus hindering millions of future artists from ever pursuing art.

so sad. i think there are music teachers like this too.

Linny..i love your picture from your date :) it sets the mood beautifully.

Guys and Dolls! I love Guys and Dolls, I'm so jealous (in a good way). Good for you two for getting out and doing something "out of the ordinary" as you put it.. always fun to mix it up, eh? PS. I have to make a more concerted effort to get to everyone's blogs more often.. I feel like I'm missing out on so much of your lives back there. Miss you tons, Miss Linny!!
